On 13 September 2024, Harmony Gold Mining Company said it had launched invitations to its 2025 internship and experiential learning programme, tailored for graduates and young professionals hungry for real-world exposure to complete their qualifications. This is in line with Harmony’s commitment to Mining with Purpose, and the development of an inclusive and diverse workforce, with an emphasis on providing opportunities to communities in which the company is located.

The company said that its 2025 internship and Mining Qualifications Authority (MQA)-aligned P1/P2 work experience opportunities are key components of its broader strategy to cultivate a diverse pipeline of talent, especially among women and young professionals. The programmes provide opportunities across a range of critical fields, from Mining Engineering, Rock Engineering and Metallurgy to Finance, Community Development Studies, Communications, and Mechanical and Electrical Engineering.

Harmony remains committed to nurturing South Africa’s youth by investing in their growth and development. In recent years, the company has awarded bursaries totalling R13-million to students from host communities supporting their studies in industry-related fields. This dedication is further reflected in the company’s core mining skills training, which has reached 747 young people over the past five years, achieving an impressive 87% absorption rate into permanent roles within the company.

The 2025 internship programme offers graduates hands-on experience at Harmony’s operations, including Moab Khotsong, Tshepong Operations (including Phakisa) and Mponeng. This exposure is not only vital for completing their qualifications but also serves as a stepping stone to long-term careers in mining and related fields.

Harmony Gold invites all eligible graduates from its local communities to apply for these exciting opportunities. This is more than an internship; it is a chance to be a part of a diverse, inclusive and forward-thinking company dedicated to making a positive impact.
