Every year, Pinpoint Stewards profiles 12 “new” speakers in SA Mining, who contribute to the sector across various levels and roles. This years’ line-up once again focusses on home grown talent within the sector and is a “must-attend” event for women’s month. Backed by their media partners they aim to report and recognise women who are standing their ground to grow equity in mining and support and motivate others to step up and lead.
Many efforts in the form of legislation, policies and strategies and more are available to progress women at a faster pace, but now, more than ever, mining companies will have to look at implementing these efforts to empower women over the next five years. This is the focus for this year’s conference.
Ankia Roux, co-owner, Pinpoint Stewards says, “This is where leaders gain critical insight needed to navigate and strengthen their women empowerment and gender equality figures. We’re not just talking about investing in woman-capital – we’re equipping industry leaders with the knowledge to overcome challenges but also to secure opportunities. This objective, thought provoking platform is where mining companies can benchmark best practices and implement change.”
Roux adds: “The conference is called Women & Leadership in Mining which includes male leadership, with a strong focus on developing women. We will also have our first male speakers at the conference this year.”
