Now that our trio of exhibitions in Botswana have taken place, MTE is thrilled to announce that this was our most successful trip to Botswana out of all the shows we have done in the region, with excellent feedback from both suppliers and visitors. All three expos were met with extremely positive responses and we were blown away by the number of high-quality visitors who attended.

Letlhakane

In the previous newsletter MTE promised to “make it rain” in Botswana this year, a tongue in cheek reference to the country’s currency, the Pula, which means ‘rain’ in Setswana. This turned out to be true both literally and figuratively! Our Letlhakane show kicked off to a great start on 6 March at the Thakadu Hotel, with 53 suppliers present and ready to show off their best wares. The weather was superb, remaining clear until the very end of the show when we were blessed with some gentle and refreshing rain. It seemed to be raining visitors as well however, with a total of 287 visitors arriving to see what was on offer. The quality of the visitors was notably good, with representatives including project managers, supervisors, procurement staff and power station managers coming through to visit.

Palapye

The second part of our triple combo showcase was held in Palapye at Kgaswe Primary School on 8 March. This time the weather remained very hot, which was fitting with the ‘hot’ business networking which took place. Once again, we had a total of 53 suppliers, who were set up bright and early to make the most of the day. We had an exceptional turnout at the event, with 264 quality visitors arriving to experience the latest in mining technology. These visitors included: directors, general managers, electrical engineers, mechanical engineers, engineering managers, logistics officers, maintenance planners and officers, operations staff, procurement agents, power station managers and boiler makers.

Jwaneng

Finally, the Jwaneng expo completed the Botswana tour. Not to be outdone by the previous two shows, this was the highest visitor count we received over the course of the tour with a stunning total of 306 in all. Our suppliers did not disappoint either, with all 53 in attendance at this show as well. Feedback from the suppliers was glowing, with many reporting that the quality of visitors in attendance was great for business overall. These visitors included: mining managers, directors, sales managers, chief operations officers, project controllers, technicians, principal mechanical engineers and technical advisors, among many others! All in all, a superb end to a highly successful trip.
