In May, MTE’s magic swept across three South African provinces – Mpumalanga, North West and Limpopo, answering the call of general industry as well as two main mining sectors namely coal and PGMs – both key to the South African economy.

MTE Middelburg/Emalahleni (Witbank)
The MTE Middelburg/Emalahleni (Witbank) Mining & Industrial Expo took place in Middelburg this year at Steelcrest High School on 14 May 2025.
Andrew Macnamara, MTE’s operations director said, “The venue change from Emalahleni to Middelburg stood us in good stead this year. The vibe was great on the day and the expo was buzzing with decision makers from local companies and general industries as well as mining and processing operations.” Visitor numbers were up this year, ending at 529, with 102 exhibiting companies showcasing tech and services on the day.

The MTE Bafokeng show took place at Impala Bafokeng, with 31 exhibitors and 161 visitors attending this more intimate expo on mine property.

The MTE Bafokeng show took place at Impala Bafokeng, with 31 exhibitors and 161 visitors attending this more intimate expo on mine property. Macnamara noted, “Many of the visitors in attendance were focussed on the Bafokeng Rasimone mining operations, while decision makers from Styldrift, North and South shaft and the concentrator also made a turn. With great weather and good networking, the day went off well.”
MTE ended the week on a high note two days later at Zondereinde. Macnamara said, “Most of the management from the mine attended, with great emphasis on requirements at the concentrator and smelter. Instrumentation and engineering professionals also made up a strong element of the 200 visitors on the day, while SMMs formed part of the 33 exhibitor contingency.
“Overall, we had a fantastic week under the blue skies of the North West and Limpopo.”
