Mining and Technical Exhibitions (MTE) hit the western limb platinum belt for its annual combo tradeshows in April 2025 – but with a difference this year.

The tour started off with the brand-new general Brits Mining & Industrial Exhibition, on 8 April 2025 at the Rabboni Christian School. The popular annual Rustenburg Mining & Industrial Exhibition followed on 10 April at the usual venue – the newly renovated Impala Rugby Club, with Mooinooi operations expected to attend this last leg of the tour.

Every year MTE brings buyers and suppliers together in this area – home to many platinum, chrome and ferrochrome operations. The expo in Rustenburg is the company’s biggest show of the year, targeting the Sibanye Rustenburg and Kroondal Operations, and others like the Impala Platinum and Glencore mining companies.

The Brits debut

The Brits expo showed promise with 53 exhibitors present and 96 industry representatives and decision makers arriving in the morning of the expo – not to mention an influx of students (over and above the official visitor count) from the school who visited the expo at lunch time showing an interest in potential mining careers. Unfortunately the weather did not play ball, and Andrew Macnamara, operations director at the company, had to make a safety call to shut the expo down at 15:00 due to strong winds and rain.

A reliable favourite – Rustenburg

The MTE team and exhibitors alike had their spirits lifted when only a day later the Rustenburg expo, busy throughout, delivered 397 visitors to the 133 expectant exhibitors. “With great weather this time round the expo was a success, and networking was pumping – especially in the instrumentation and engineering departments,” noted Macnamara.
