For the first time ever, Mining and Technical Exhibitions (MTE) hosted an expo on the Moab Khotsong Gold Mine itself on 22 February 2024 in the Free State, after last touring the area in 2017 – and the day was a resounding success for both visitors and exhibitors.

Although the day started off slowly, visitors started streaming through the gates in the last three hours of the show. At the end of the day, 245 visitors – including the Engineering, Mine and the Minerals Resource management teams and foremen, Health and Safety and Plant executives – came through to network with 40 exhibiting suppliers. “It just goes to show that from an exhibitor’s point of view, it absolutely pays to stay until the bitter end of a long day, as there is no way of knowing at what point your targeted audience will arrive,” says Andrew Macnamara, operations director at MTE.
The successful expo reflects Harmony Gold’s trading statement and operating update with interim results for the six months ended 31 December 2023 (“H1FY24″). “Our stellar H1FY24 results are a result of our ongoing investment in safety, higher quality ounces, a stable and predictable cost structure, and operational excellence across the entire group. This has placed us in a very good position to take advantage of the strong gold price and generate excellent operating free cash flows. We will continue using our wealth of experience and specialised skills to convert our significant Mineral Resources to Mineral Reserves as we create long-term value for all,” said Peter Steenkamp, CEO.

“Part of a successful exhibition is prompt follow-up on the leads and contacts generated. Harmony Gold’s recent successes make for a conducive sales environment, and we look forward to hearing from our valued exhibitors when those deals come through!” says Macnamara.
