The honourable Minister Parks Tau, Department of Trade, Industry and Competition (dtic), will be giving a Ministerial Keynote address at the 8th edition of the PGMs Industry Day taking place on Thursday 3 April at the Houghton Hotel, Houghton Estate, Johannesburg.

Other key players due to attend include PGMs producers, end users, industry analysts and investors.

The latest opportunities and challenges facing the PGMs sector will be discussed at the event chaired by Bernard Swanepoel.

 

The one-day event promises to include:

  • A conversation with CEOs Neal Froneman, Sibanye-Stillwater; Craig Miller, Anglo American Platinum and Nico Muller, Impala Platinum – reflecting on challenging times for PGMs – is there a price point at which PGMs production no longer makes sense?

  • A conversation on the outlook for new PGMs projects and how current market conditions are affecting project timelines with Phoevos Pouroulis, CEO, Tharisa Minerals; Jaco Prinsloo, CEO, Sylvania Platinum; Marna Cloete, president, Ivanhoe Mines and Johan Odendaal, managing director, Southern Palladium.
  • A discussion on the current drivers in the global automotive market between Anton Smalberger, senior manager Marketing New Energy Business Development, Toyota SA and Bernhard Fuchs, senior vice president Precious Metals Management, Umicore AG.
