Mining and Technical Exhibitions’ (MTE’s) Emalahleni (Witbank) show took place on 22 May 2024 in Mpumalanga at Hoërskool Patriot. Focused on mining, power stations, contractors and smelters – this tradeshow is MTE’s main annual coal exhibition as new mines and major rehabilitation is continuously taking place in the area. Despite trading challenges and coal pricing not being where the industry would like it to be, the day was a success.

The MTE Emalahleni (Witbank) show boasted 115 exhibiting companies, while the show saw just shy of 400 visitors.

“It was a good day, with good weather and a steady flow of visitors,” says Andrew Macnamara, operations director at MTE. This is a popular expo for MTE suppliers and 115 companies booked stands, while the show saw just shy of 400 visitors – among them were supervisors from many of the mining operations in the area and business owners in the mining contractor space.

“With a show of this magnitude and size, it is not realistic to expect all to run without a single hitch. Bar for a few initial electrical issues when the generators had to kick in, the day ran seamlessly,” added Macnamara.
