During the month of May MTE once again delivered on its promises to create exciting, high impact exhibitions which resulted in some rewarding business interactions between top level management and our dedicated exhibitors. The month began with a ‘royal’ show at the Bafokeng Mining and Technical Exhibition and this trend continued with a great expo at Zondereinde followed by a very successful outing at Emalahleni. Read on to find out more about how these expos went.

Royal Bafokeng Platinum

This show was specifically aimed at meeting the needs of the Royal Bafokeng platinum operations (North and South Shaft, Concentrators and Styldrift), and in this regard MTE was pleased to see that the support from the mines was the best they have ever seen from a Bafokeng show, with a large number of staff coming through to see the exciting products and services on offer from the 40 registered suppliers present. Thanks to a great marketing campaign leading up to the event combined with perfect, sunny weather on the day, the expo hosted over 240 representatives from the Bafokeng operations, with a high number of engineers and supervisory staff in attendance. A large number of visitors also came through from both the Styldrift Shaft at Royal Bafokeng and the Maseve concentrator plant. Next year MTE anticipates an even bigger turnout for this expo so register ahead of time to ensure your place.

Zondereinde

Always a solid show for MTE, this year’s Zondereinde expo was in keeping with the consistently high quality which the travelling exhibitions company has come to expect from the area. At 120 people, this was a smaller, more intimate expo specifically customised for the operation’s needs and the quality of ‘feet on the ground’ was notable, with particularly good support from the engineering and processing departments of the local mining operations. A total of 28 suppliers came through, with a superb selection of innovations for the platinum industry. At the start of the week there was some concern raised when a massive storm in the area caused the originally planned venue to be waterlogged. Rather than postpone or cancel, MTE did what it does best and a new venue was swiftly organised close by, allowing the show to go ahead as planned. Overcoming challenges like this is part of why MTE has remained successful for over thirty years.

Emalahleni

Finally, MTE ended off the month of May with another visit to the ‘place of coal’, Emalahleni. This was a spectacular expo with superb weather and featured a diverse offering of exhibitors, with 88 stands bristling with innovative products for the viewing pleasure of the visitors, which even included a supplier of drone technology. A veritable horde of visitors made their way to the show, with a final total of 355 coming through. The quality of representation for the mines was particularly good, with personnel from the procurement, safety, engineering and instrumentation departments of local major coal miners as well as visitors from local industries. In addition, engineering staff from the local Eskom operations also came through to see the quality products and services on display. MTE had been approached by the mines beforehand to incorporate a list of mine needs for the show and the team was extremely successful in this regard.
