Eland Platinum Mine (Eland) is a mining operation which forms part of the Northam Platinum Limited (Northam) group, a primary producer of platinum group metals (PGMs). Eland is a shallow hybrid UG2 mine located in the south-eastern portion of the western limb of the Bushveld Complex, some 70km north of Johannesburg and 12 km east of Brits, in the North-West Province of South Africa. With a LOM at 30 years. Two different mining methods are undertaken at Eland mine at two sections – underground mining at Elandsfontein and opencast mining at Zilkaatsnek.
