A pair of Kalmar Empty Container Handlers (ECHs) have been delivered and officially handed over to Grindrod division United Container Depot (UCD) by Shumani Industrial Equipment. The company, which is the official distributor of Kalmar reach stackers and ECHs in South Africa, has consolidated its presence in the port handling equipment sector after its recent entry into the market.
“It is with great pleasure to have Shumani handle our ECH requirements, as we have received impeccable service from them to date. For this reason, we trust them with our continued business,” says Liven Gounden, UCD Asset Manager.
Established in 1984, UCD has 35 years’ experience in servicing storage and handling containers for the world’s major shipping lines. The company performs mechanical and structural repairs to containers in accordance with IICL standards.
In addition, UCD’s depots have designated repair areas with teams of qualified artisans present for the sole purpose of performing container repairs and reworking programmes. The depots all have designated wash bay areas for the cleaning of containers.
“We are the fastest growing forklift company in South Africa, with a wide range of industrial equipment for any business operating in our market,” says Shumani MD Victor Nemukula. “We are proud to have been supplying Kalmar reach stackers for over eight years, as well as having the largest short-term fleet of this equipment in South Africa.
