New Rokbak RA30 and RA40 haulers deliver cost-effective production for African mines.
These 28- and 38-tonne payload articulated haulers combine high reliability and productivity with a low total cost of ownership and operation.
Rokbak, launched in September 2021, is the evolution of Terex Trucks and the first new brand to be developed by Volvo Group. Since acquiring the Terex hauler line in 2014, Volvo Group has invested significantly in the people, processes, and products, so that the Rokbak RA30 and RA40 articulated haulers set new benchmarks in durability, productivity, and fuel economy. Incorporating more than 80 years of hauling heritage and built around the needs of customers today and tomorrow, Rokbak stands for rock-solid reliability, power, and performance.
“The response to the Rokbak launch has been extremely positive so far,” said Guy Wilson, Sales Director, Rokbak. “Anecdotally, customers have said they like the name and the look of the machines. They feel the branding is simple, powerful, and perfectly encapsulates what we do, which is producing the world’s toughest haulers and always having customers’ backs. Moreover, we have a strong order book for this year, which signifies customers’ belief in our team and our products.”
Powerful and efficient
The RA40 is the larger of the two haulers. Powered by the Scania DC13 engine, with a gross power of 331 kW (444 hp), a maximum torque of 2,255 Nm and a 38-tonne (41.9 US ton) payload, it features an effective power to weight ratio, ensuring the fast movement of heavy-duty materials on all types of terrain.
The 28-tonne (30.9 US ton) Rokbak RA30 articulated hauler offers a heaped capacity of 17.5m³ and is powered by a Scania DC9 engine generating gross power of 276 kW (370 hp) and a maximum torque of 1,880 Nm.
Both Rokbak haulers combine their impressive output and powerful performance with emissions-compliant engines and adaptive shifting transmission to provide excellent fuel economy.
Built to last
Reliability is all about getting more time on the job, so the Rokbak RA30 and RA40 are designed to last. For example, both models are installed with effective and efficient transmission retarder modes, coupled with an exhaust brake and fully enclosed oil-coiled multidisc brakes to keep wear-and-tear to a minimum. This not only lowers the cost of operation for customers, but it also ensures total control, safety and stability for operators, no matter how steep the incline.
Quick and easy maintenance
With ground level test points, a fully tilting cab and an electronically raised hood, servicing is quick and easy. Interval periods between services are also extended to their optimum level. For the RA40 this means up to 4 000 hours between hydraulic fluid changes and 6 000 hours for transmission fluid changes. This not only maximises uptime and operational efficiency, it also lowers environmental impact, helping to boost sustainability.
Ideal for African mines and quarries
The first Rokbak units are now being shipped internationally and the company is looking forward to seeing them working on African projects where they can make a substantial difference to customers’ productivity, uptime, and profitability.
“Africa holds enormous potential for Rokbak,” says Wilson. “Our reliable, no-nonsense haulers are ideally suited to the many mining and quarrying projects in Africa, where they can contribute to high tonne per hour production and a low cost per tonne. We are currently expanding our dealer network and are in the process of signing with some new dealer partners, so watch this space!”
