Mining and Technical Exhibitions (MTE) hit Botswana last month, hosting expos in Letlhakane, Palapye and Jwaneng on 10, 12 and 14 March 2025, respectively, in the mining and power sectors. “The tour was a phenomenal success with both numbers of exhibiting companies, and visitor numbers exceeding expectations,” says Andrew Macnamara, MTE’s operations director.

MTE’s exhibiting company contingent was made up of 72 supplier firms rearing to go on the first leg of the tour – the Letlhakane Mining & Technical Expo, which drew 365 visitors. Numbers were up this year at this expo from the 68 exhibiting companies and 223 visitors in 2024. This expo was also well attended – the GM, mining manager, project manager, senior engineering manager and the senior ore processing manager, together with additional plant managers, engineers and maintenance staff all made a turn at the annual event. “The visitor feedback was excellent and senior stakeholders noted that many of their needs were met,” added Macnamara.
The Palapye Mining & Industrial Expo on 12 March also boasted an excellent turnout – visitor numbers increased from 289 in 2024 to 375 this year, supporting the 59 exhibiting companies on the day. Power station managers, mining and metallurgy managers, senior engineers, as well as maintenance procurement and project managers, together with procurement officials drove solution-driven conversations at this expo.
The last leg of the tour – MTE’s Jwaneng Mining & Industrial Expo spoke to 410 visitors, versus 277 visitors in 2024. “Engineers, maintenance staff, a senior mineral resources manager and foreman and local companies supported the expo, and it was a great way to end off a productive week in Botswana,” concluded Macnamara.
Despite heavy rainfall just weeks prior to the MTE trilogy tour in Botswana, the weather was perfect to host the travelling outdoor concept on all three expo show days last month.
