Energy Engineered Products, Multi Alloys and E-Metals Cape recently joined forces to create a powerful new brand, EMVAfrica. Located in Kyalami, Midrand, this dynamic, single-source solutions provider brings an innovative product and service suite to customers on the African continent.
Energy Engineered Products was founded by Hugh Whitty in 1992 and five years later, Ken Perel established Multi Alloys with Hugh as a shareholder in the company. E-Metals Cape opened its doors in the Western Cape in 2003. Over the best part of the past three decades this group of companies has grown into a considerable force as a distributor of corrosion resisting alloys such as stainless steel and other specialist alloys.
EMVAfrica has leveraged and streamlined each of the founding company’s strengths, expertise and experience and is represented by two divisions namely ENERGYMetals, ENERGYValves and associated company, Multi Alloys. Under the brand of EMVAfrica, the divisions and subsidiaries are well positioned to deliver their strategy of product, service and stock solutions.
For management and staff, EMVAfrica is so much more than product. “Our 360˚ approach in solving customers’ needs is what differentiates the business,” states Graham Whitty, director of EMVAfrica.
“We see ourselves as Africans, we see our market as Africa, and we wish to engage the world as Africans. As specialists, our capabilities include sourcing the best products from around the world and creating packages for both local as well as export projects to other parts of Africa and further abroad.”
“Multi Alloys’ ongoing commitment to adding value through decades of experience has earned us the reputation as one of South Africa’s leading purveyors of special alloys underpinned by our ability to help our customers find the right technical solution for their demanding applications,” states Perel.
The company’s product portfolio consists of nickel alloys, duplex and super duplex stainless steels, high performance copper alloys and other niche products which are sourced from reliable and certified manufacturers. Combining excellent product knowledge with outstanding international logistics capabilities, Multi Alloys’ professional team offers solutions from their industry-leading stock range as well as through sourcing those hard-to-find items internationally.
“Multi Alloys is proud to be part of EMVAfrica and we look forward to reaching even greater successes under this new brand.”
ENERGYMetals imports, stocks and distributes premium quality industrial stainless steel. The division offers process materials such as pipe, fittings, flanges, fasteners and heat exchanger tube, as well as engineering materials such as round bar, angle and flat bar and polished decorative tube. ENERGYMetals supplies from stock or ex-mill for larger products. “Over the years, ENERGYMetals has assembled an industry-leading team of specialists enabling us to offer unrivalled expertise in all aspects of our product range,” notes Graham.
The ENERGYValves division, established primarily to complement the process materials offering, is industry-renowned for its vast stock of stainless steel and special alloy valves and supporting services. With stainless steel forming the bulk of the valves range, the division also offers valves in titanium, 904L, zirconium, nickel alloys as well as numerous other high performance alloys. In more recent times the division has expanded its offering to include a range of pneumatic actuators. ENERGYValves has a proven track record for stellar performance across a range of industries including mineral processing, water treatment, petro-chemical, power generation, food and beverage and general industrial applications. The division’s extensive technical expertise in special alloys provides an in-depth understanding of their performance in corrosive and challenging industrial environments.
Turning to service, Whitty and Perel affirm that EMVAfrica mirrors its extensive product expertise in its service and after-sales service offerings. “Quality of both our products and services is of primary importance to us; service excellence is part of our DNA, so we made sure that it retained its pivotal role within the new business.”
Going hand-in-hand with service excellence is a highly skilled, specialist team and here too EMVAfrica, a level 3 B-BBEE company, continues to invest in employing and training people. “There can be no doubt that our employees are our best resources and our most important assets,” says Whitty. “Our employees are well-equipped and have in-depth knowledge to be able to assist our customers with technical advice and commercial aspects on our complete range of products.”
EMVAfrica’s winning formula of long-term, solid customer and supplier relationships, attentive responsiveness to customers’ needs, extensive industry experience and a vast world-class product and service suite position the ISO 9001 accredited business as an industry powerhouse on the African continent.
