Located in the Sekhukhune District Municipality is Steelpoort mining town. The town is on the border of Mpumalanga with the majority of mines in the town being chrome and platinum mines. Eastern Mines is one of the mines found in Steelpoort, located in the Eastern belt of the Limpopo province. The mine has a capacity of over two million tonnes of mine ore.
Another operation is the Tubatse Ferrochrome, which mainly focuses on the production of charge chrome using six submerged arc furnaces, one metal recovery plant and a pallet and sintering plant. Both operations are owned by Samancor which has been spending money on new operations such as the TC smelter.
Exhibitors take note that Steelpoort operations are branching out and that a lot of development will be taking place in the area. Exhibitors involved in the business of construction will strongly benefit from the MTE exhibition.
