Mooinooi is a mining town situated in the North West Province of South Africa. The town is located between Rustenburg and Brits and makes up part of the North West’s platinum belt. Mines in the town not only produce platinum but also chrome with Lonmin mine and Western Chrome mine the main mines in Mooinooi, among others.
Lonmin mainly deals with exploring, mining, smelting, refining and marketing platinum. Although platinum is the main product at Lonmin, the mine also has chrome which is a saleable by-product produced from the mine’s PGMs. Lonmin’s main mining operation is Marikana, which accounts for 95% of Lonmin’s output.
Western Chrome mine comprises of three underground mines comprising two surface beneficiation plants and two tailings re-treatment plants. The mine uses two underground methods namely conventional scraper mining and trackless mechanised mining. The main products of the mine are metallurgical and chemical concentrates.

Other exhibitors we would like to see include those involved with hopper maintenance, dust suppression, noise reduction and conveyor belt cleaning technology.
